You must have heard proverbs like ‘Health is wealth’ and ‘Fashions come and go, but good health is a treasure to keep’ since you were a young child. Such claims must have been made so frequently that they are starting to wear you out. Let us assure you, however, that every one of them is entirely accurate and logical. Although the value of excellent health is obvious and needs no justification, let us address any questions you may have. We will discuss the value of students’ health and how it contributes to their success in life in this blog.
The Value of Good Health in a Student's Life
A student’s life depends greatly on their health, and in many ways being well may improve a student’s quality of life. The three primary advantages of excellent health are as follows:
Increased Focus: A student may focus more on their studies and get the most out of them when they are both physically and psychologically well-rested from stress and anxiety. Studies have indicated that children who are well-nourished are better able to focus and that eating nutritious meals improves memory and attentiveness as well as speeds up the processing of information.
Improved Learning and Greater Attention: Students who are in excellent health are better able to concentrate on their assignments and acquire new material. Research indicates that when children are in good physical and mental health, they do better academically. They do better on tests, miss fewer classes, exhibit a lesser risk of antisocial conduct, and optimise better.
Being Well Makes You Feel Confident: To say that a person in good health is inherently self-assured is not an exaggeration. Obese or physically unfit people often feel so self-conscious about their appearance that they begin to lose confidence and think poorly of themselves. According to studies, leading a healthy lifestyle boosts self-esteem, and working out causes the brain to generate feel-good chemicals that elevate mood and induce joy.
How We Help Students Keep Up Their Health
Some of the methods we use to teach students about the value of and strategies for sustaining good health are listed below:
Awareness and knowledge are key: We frequently have open discussions about the value of good health in which we try to highlight issues related to general well-being, such as eating a balanced diet, the necessity of exercise, and the advantages of yoga, meditation, and healing, among other things.
Allowing space to work on improving health: We consciously allow students to focus on their well-being while they spend a significant amount of time at school. To motivate them to maintain their physical fitness, we schedule frequent game periods, outdoor events, etc.
An assessment of their meals: We once in a while monitor the food that the students are consuming. Monitoring the meals is becoming a common practice to emphasise to children the value of maintaining excellent health. Schools can also start rewarding those who bring only nutritious lunches to class and complete them to discourage junk food consumption.
Individual counselling sessions: Being a student is not always easy. Students are under a lot of strain, and this frequently takes a toll on their mental health. To assist them in addressing such external pressure as well as other mental health concerns including stress, anxiety, and depression, we provide individual counselling sessions. In those sessions, the counsellor should give a secure environment to the students and serve as their trusted listener.

Our goal is to establish a culture of health consciousness among students, which will serve as the cornerstone of a vibrant academic community. Therefore, we enable them to achieve academic success, enjoy balanced lives, and develop habits that will benefit them beyond their schooling journey. Advocating for a proactive approach to wellness is crucial as we understand its significance in developing resilient and accomplished individuals.
